What is threadjungle?

We are an E-commerce business offering customised, on demand clothing to the Australasian market. Users can sign up for a free store, submit a design and when a customer purchases that item we’ll handle payment, create it, ship it, worry about customer service/returns and credit real money directly to you. Simple.

Is it free to register/sign up?

Yep, and it always will be free to create a threadjungle account. If you want to join our public Beta visit our registration page.

What stage are you at?

We’re still in the early stages but we’ve already got an interim “Alpha” solution available to a limited selection of store owners. We’ll have our own bespoke, full bells and whistles system soon. If you want to register your interest in joining our public Beta program visit the signup page.

Where are you based?

We’re based in sunny (a euphemism between the months of May and September) Dunedin, New Zealand. Famous for it’s oversized albatross and being supposedly the Edinburgh of the South.

Can I make a suggestion for a feature/product?

Of course! We love to hear what our users want. You can email us your suggestions to contactus@threadjungle.com or send them in anonymously through our online suggest form.

How do I submit a bug in the threadjungle.com website?

Bugs are an unfortunate part of any system. We work hard to ensure that our software is as bug free as possible but sometimes some go unnoticed. If you’ve come across a bug please use our Bug Report form and we’ll try and get it sorted as quickly as possible. If the bug is stopping you from performing an action, such as administering your store or purchasing an item please contact support@threadjungle.com or phone us on 0800 566 787 (toll free in NZ) or on +64 3 4555 922 (worldwide) between 9am-5pm Monday to Friday (except public holidays) and we’ll be able to help you in the meantime. Sorry for any inconvenience.

How do I retrieve a lost Username/Password?

Store Passwords/Usernames (for Store Owners and Customers) can be reset by visiting the threadjungle store in question and under the login box click on either “Lost Password?” or “Forgot your Username?”. You will then be asked to supply the email address you entered when you registered.

If you registered a non-store account on threadjungle.com and/or the threadjungle blog you can reset your password on the login page.

Can I use the same customer account to purchase from another threadjungle store?

Unfortunately not. In our current alpha stage each shop is a distinct entity, thus requiring customers to register/complete their details for each threadjungle store. We know it sucks but it won’t be a problem come the beta stage.

What payment options do you have?

You can pay using a Visa or MasterCard Debit or Credit Card or by Direct Credit (depositing the money directly into our account). If you select Direct Credit you will be sent details on how to transfer the money to us. Your order will be processed once the money is recieved.

All prices are in New Zealand Dollars.

Is your server secure and safe to use?

Payment is processed by the industry leading payment transfer portal; PayPal ensuring your credit card details are safe. We don’t get to see these details.

What printing methods does threadjungle use?

For most designs we use hard wearing vinyl transfers. On light coloured garments or where the design has a number of colours we use what is essentially an inkjet printer for clothing.

Do you have a size chart?

Threadjungle offers garments in a wide variety of sizes. We recommend you view our size chart before ordering.

What do I do if my copyright is being infringed?

Threadjungle takes copyright very seriously and we work hard to uphold copyright law. We review all claims of copyright infringement received and remove content deemed to have been posted or distributed in violation of any such laws. To make a claim, please provide us with the following:

  1. physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or the person authorized to act on its behalf.

Yes! This isn’t some pyramid scheme. We sell real products that you’ve designed to real customers. You can be as successful as the energy, time and creativity you put in. We are now taking requests to join the threadjungle Beta stage. Once you register your interest we’ll keep you on our list. When everything is ready to go, you’ll be among the first to receive you invite to open a threadjungle store.

Why do you need my tax details/IRD number?

We are required by New Zealand law to collect the tax information of Store Owners to satisfy Inland Revenue (IRD) requirements. You tax details will not be used for any other purpose. For more information see the threadjungle Store Owner Contract and our Privacy Statement.

Do you withhold taxes from my commission?

If you are resident in New Zealand for tax purposes we are required by IRD to withhold 20% of your earnings as tax. This happens on all New Zealand sites where people can earn money (including everybody’s favourite auction site).

If I live outside of New Zealand do I have to provide tax information?

No, only if you are a resident of New Zealand for tax purposes.

What do I have to do to start selling?

Coming soon…

Who owns the designs I upload?

Assuming you are not infringing (accidentally or not) the copyright of anyone else, you remain the sole owner of the designs you submit to threadjungle. By uploading your designs you do however grant threadjungle a limited licence which allows us to perform such actions as promoting your products. For more information please read our Store Owner Contract.

No, works are protected under the New Zealand Copyright Act 1994 as soon as they are created. Copyright is a statutory right, there is no need to register copyright. However if you wish to protect the name of an item or your store name you can apply for trademark registration. For more information see the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand website.

Why are my products not showing?

Before a product appears on a threadjungle store it is first approved. This is to check that the item can be created using the skills and equipment available and that it conforms to guidelines. This process doesn’t check the legal right of the seller to retail the item or form any kind of endorsement.

What ecommerce software are you using?

In our alpha stage we’re using the VirtueMart ecommerce system on the Joomla! Content Management System (CMS) to power our stores. We’ll be slowly transitioning stores to our own solution during our beta stage.

Can I customise my store?

Sure! We require stores to have certain references to threadjungle but in general we allow the use of most Joomla! templates compatible with Joomla! 1.5 provided you are entitled to use them. It is your responsibility to check that you are eligible to use a template and, if appropriate, to pay for it. We can provide limited customisation and help in their installation.

Templates can be found easily from a wide variety of sources online. We provide each store with a selection of pre-tested templates containing the required threadjungle branding. If you would like to change your template and choose from one of the existing templates you can do so from inside your store by going to Extensions->Template Manager. If you require assistance or wish to install your own template contact support@threadjungle.com.

Can I install Joomla! compontents/plugins/modules/etc?

Sorry, no. For security, stability, maintainability, licensing and performance reasons we’re unable to allow users to install their own Joomla!/Virtuemart widgets. If you would like us to install something for you, email the details (along with the widget if appropriate) to support@threadjungle.com and we’ll see what we can do.

How do I know if I make a sale?

You will receive an email with each order made through your store. These are just to notify you, no action on your part is needed.

When you log into the backend, administration side of your store, you can view the 5 most recent orders on the right hand side of the window. This shows a summary of the orders including their current status (e.g. Pending or Shipped), date and time the order was placed or last updated and amount.

When can I expect to get paid?

Assuming we have you bank details or you have instructed us to pay your earnings to charity you can expect to be paid either when the amount owing reaches NZD$200 (after tax) or on your request. If an application is made for a cash out where the amount is less than NZD$25 then a NZD$2.50 processing fee will apply. Payments into accounts held overseas and/or those not in New Zealand dollars there may be transfer and conversion fees levied by your bank.

The cut off date is the end of the month with the payment date being the 5th of the next month. Any earnings made between the 1st and 5th of a month are added to the total for that month and won’t be paid immediately if you are entitled to a payment.

So, for example, if you had made $250 by the end of a month (or had a cumulative total over a number of months of that amount) on the 5th of the next month we would process your earnings payment and you would receive it into your bank account within a few days.

Due to delays such as the 5th being a weekend or banks processing time your payment might appear in your account later. If you have not received a payment contact support@threadjungle.com immediately.

For more information see the threadjungle Store Owner Contract.

How do I know how much I’ve earned?

Store Owners can check how much they’ve earned by logging into their store backend and looking at the Earnings module on the right. If you’re balance is over $200 (after tax) you will be paid on the 5th of the next month. For more information see the threadjungle Store Owner Contract.

How do I get paid?

Payments are made by cheque or direct deposit into a nominated account either when the amount owing to the Store Owner reaches NZD$200 (after tax) or on application of the store owner. If an application is made for a cash out where the amount is less than NZD$25 then a NZD$2.50 processing fee will apply.

All earnings are in New Zealand Dollars. If the account to which you receive your earnings is in another currency the amount will be converted at the current exchange rate. International transfers may incur a fee levied by your bank.

Please ensure you register your bank account details with us early as we will not be able to process payment until they are received.

It’s also possible to donate all or a proportion of your earnings to charity.

Can I donate my threadjungle earnings to charity?

You can either nominate a charity or we can donate the commission you earn automatically to KidsCan, a charity aimed at alleviating child poverty in New Zealand. You can change your payment preferences at any time, although please let us know at least 10 days before your next expected payment. Please note your nominated charity must be registered currently in New Zealand.

You may be eligible to claim a tax deduction. Visit the IRD website or contact a tax advisor for more information.

Can I close my store account?

If you wish to close your account please first delete all products and then send an email (using the address you used to register your account) to support@threadjungle.com. You can also phone us on 0800 566 787 (toll free in NZ) or on +64 3 4555 922 (worldwide) between 9am-5pm Monday to Friday (except public holidays). We will then close your account and forward any commission owed. We would appreciate if in your email you could tell us why you want your account to be closed. You will be missed!

What software do you recommend to create my designs?

Whilst Adobe Photoshop is the standard for pixel based image manipulation and Adobe Illustrator is the standard for vector based images, there is a wide variety of other capable software to suite all budgets and computers. Alternatives include Paint.Net (free for Windows), GIMP (free Linux, Unix and Mac), Pixelmator (USD $59 for Mac) or for something quick and free Splashup.com, an online image editor.

Unfortunately we are unable to offer help in using third party software. There is a wide variety of material available online and for the more popular programmes, an active community following which can be approached for advice.

Regardless of the software you use to create your design, please make sure you send us only ai, eps, svg, pdf, cdr, psd, png and high resolution jpeg images.

What can’t I have as a design?

You are not allowed to include text or images which; infringes the rights of any party (including but not limited to copyright), is defamatory, is obscene (such as pornography) or may be illegal for any other reason. For further guidance on designs which may be prohibited view our Store Owner Contract.

Can I use images I’ve found online?

Short answer: maybe, it’s safer to assume no however. Images on the internet, independent of whether they appear in image search or are otherwise in the public domain, still remain the property of their owner unless said owner has explicitly given you permission, marked the image as free to use (perhaps by using a Creative Commons licence) or the copyright of the image has expired. Be careful though, copyright infringement is a serious offence. If we become aware of an infringement we reserve the right to remove the item from sale and take further reasonable action if necessary. For more information see the threadjugle Store Owner Contract.

What image formats do you accept?

We accept image files in ai, cdr, eps, pdf, png, psd, high resolution jpeg and svg.

Can I sell items I manufacture myself or are created by a third person through a threadjungle store?

No, we don’t offer that service. Only items manufactured by threadjungle can be sold through threadjungle stores. On some rare occasions we may grant Store Owners the right and ability to sell items not produced by threadjungle through their store.

Do you offer any help with marketing/advertising my threadjungle store?

Coming soon…

Do you offer any design services?

That depends on what you’re after. We have a close relationship with a number of designers in various areas of expertise. If you need some help we might be able to point you in the right direction. Send us an email with what you’re looking for to contactus@threadjungle.com

Do I lose earnings if there’s a marketplace wide sale?

No! If we initiate any kind of marketplace promotion (such as a sale) we’ll absorb the cost of that promotion passing your full earnings on as normal.
